Hello I have a Yamaha 10/2 10ch. mixer. All i have attached are my samson monitors to the cr-out and my mic to ch. 1.

Then I have a "converter" that has 1 rca input, in which i input the mixer from 1/4 plug to RCA and an out put which is RCA to RCA to my mixer.

Right now I have acid and a demo of N-Track.
When i record, the beat that I play on the computer comes out under my voice.

This limits me to adding effects and all that. Please advice me on what you think it is, im really fustrated of trying everything.

It could be 1 of 3 things

1. Your monitors are loud enough for the sound to bleed into your vocal mic. (if so, use headphones)

2. you have routed your soundcard into the board, mixed it with your voice (routed it to the same output your voice is on) and sending that to the computer. (if so, stop that)

3. Your soundcard control panel has a check box checked that says something like 'record what I hear" (if so, uncheck it)

When puting the sound card back into the mixer, put it into a channel, not a tape in, (should be a stereo 1/4") being so that you can control its volumn with a fader . Otherwise, if you send it in the tape in (usually RCA, so thats why i assume that is what u r doing) it will just get inserted into the main outs and back into your sound card.

I think?

Well, I have 2 sound cards. One is a standard pc card, that is not currently in use anymore and the other is a an external USB 1 Input 1 Output device.

I really didnt understand what you said. If you can clarify yourself, or just ask me a question in reference to my setup. Thanks.

Okay, How are you connecting everything up?

Do you know what the external sound card is?(model/Brand)

the way i would connect everything up is to plug the mic in, use the insert plug(insert to first "click")to send it to the sound card input(You could also use the Aux send). Then I would run the sound card output into one of the Mono or stereo channels in the mixer then connect the monitors to the ST out (main out).

How is this different then your current set-up?

Are you using the "record out" plugs to send to the sound card?? If so, dont use those. Reason being is that everything that goes into the ST or CTR out, also goes into the Rec Out, so if you are playing back and then recording, you will be recording what you already have recorded AND recording what you are currently recording (confused yet?)

Hope this helps.
