Recording Percussion..

Hey guys..

Does anyone have any tips or experience with recording or mixing percussion?

I'm making a piece with tambourines, shakers, cowbells, triangles, guiros etc

This is what i've got so far (its called the Triangular Beat).

In general I find using a small to mid sized diaphram condensor works best.
Percussion has a lot of transients the are easier to capture with a small light diaphram.

Also unless you WANT the image to move back and forth in the stero field I'd suggest NOT stereo micing the percussion instrument unless it is a set of congas.
