Im thinking about upgrading my daw, but would first like to see how much I could get for my current set-up...

Compaq Presario
AMD Athlon 1.2ghz
40gb HD
256mb Ram (expandable to 768)
Twin 16 mb Nvidia video cards (used for dual monitoring)
DVD-rom drive
Pioneer DVD+/-rw (DVR-106D)
Floppy

Plus accesories (mouse, keyboard, JBL speakers facepates, software, ec...)

Lots of room for upgrading as well...

Ive recorded using Sonar 3 Pro with up to 24 tracks and plug ins @ 16 bit with no problem...

Ive stripped it of my recording software and interfaces, as Id like to take these with my upgrade...

But how much could I expect to net from this unit...?

I'm gonna throw out a number and say... $300

Computers are dropping in prices faster and faster, try to sell it quick if you expect to sell it at all.

My advice would be to just take your parts and make a better computer, try to do a dual processor, dual hd with more ram. You would just have to look for a new motherboard and stuff. That way you can make use of your old stuff considering its not going to sell for much.

I'd say $250.

I recently sold this for $350:

2400+ Athlon XP
512mb PC2700RAM
ABIT NFS-7
Radeon 8500le
Maxtor 30gig HD
16x DVD Burner
24x CD-Burner
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
802.11g Wireless Card
Antec Case
Antec 400w Power Supply
17" Viewsonic Flat-Screen CRT Monitor

Keep it!

Since you're most likely not gonna get much for it, you may as well keep it for office and/or net duties. Cause you know we all need a dedicated porn system. :D

Take it apart, and then use parts fot the new PC, ie graphics card, DVD drive, RAM, HD etc

My PC was similar to yours a year ago, i always upgrade my PCs and as it stands now my DAW has

Athlon 2600+ Xp
2Gb RAM
120Gb hard drive (two of them)
DVD +/- writer (great for backing up)
Matrox G550 (dual monitors)

Just get a new case, new montherboard and possibly processor = £200
New 2Gb RAM = £90
120Gb Hard drive = £50

and you're sorted
