that's usually what is meant by "x vs. y"

All I meant was maybe he was referring to sensous pleasure ("pleasing to the ear") rather than intellectual pleasure.

Do you know what? I haven't the slightest idea of what that means.

But, I have a strong feeling it isn't worth debating, and Miles is dead, so I'm sure he won't object... so I'm perfectly willing to attribute it to my own intellectual inadequacy.
