 When I am recording my bass, it is obviously recorded as mono, which then yields a hard panned signal in my recording. I would really like to have the signal equal in both speakers. Is there any general technique, or is this software/hardware specific? I am using plugging into an M-Audio Fast Track USB for input and using Cakewalk Homestudio 2002 for my recording software. Please advise if you can. Thanks in advance.

You need to record it to a mono track. A mono track will have a pan control that you can use to put the sound where you want. I don't know what software you are using, but there should be a way to tell it that you want to record to a mono track instead of a stereo one.
