Ok, I just found out my friend has an ADAT machine that my band is going to borrow and use to record. This is what I was planning on doing. I have a 16 channel mackie mixer, which I was going to sub-mix like 6 drum mics into and record on 1 track on the ADAT. I was then going to have 1 guitar and 1 bass in tracks 2 and 3 (these would be recorded live with the drums) there would then be 2 more guitar tracks and vocals added to tracks 4, 5, and 6. Then, 2 more extra tracks (keyboard, etc.) The way we planned on mixing was to output each track onto the mixer and output the headphone out on the mixer. What would be the best way to do this? Output it onto PC via line-in jack? Ive never worked with ADAT before, all the recording I have done has been on hard disk. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I know someone with a hardisk studio and their recording interface accepts spdif. Would it be possible to output the ADAT tracks as separate tracks onto computer then do the mixing on there. Thanks.
