Recording MIDI using Roland MC-50

I have the Roland MC-50 mark II sequencer. Does anyone know if you can record new MIDI tracks while using the MC-50 as a slave. The manual only describes playing the MC-50 as a slave, not recording with it as a slave.

If you're still out there,I slave my MC-50 MKII to my VS-880EX and although it locks perfectly even when i move to other parts of the song,I've yet to succeed in being able to record MIDI on ot while it's playing back w/the 880.This doesn't necessarily mean it can't be done,just that I haven't succeeded.
