I am using EZdrummer with cubase LE4 on windows xp. PC specs: 2.44ghz quad core, 3.5gb ram.

When i am using a midi cable to record from my DTXplorer, i encounter 2 problems. The first, when i play to fast or do blasts, on the recording the notes are all mashed together in random spots, i.e. if i play perfect double kick fast, it comes out sounding likean amatuer has just started pounding on the pedals. And the second problem is it lags behind by about a second which is of putting. i.e. I hit the pad. A second later it comes out of computer. Any help would be really appreaciated, been trying to work this out for weeks.

Most likely the latency is involved in the computer playing the samples, as opposed to the response time of the drum kit.

Turn off all screensavers, anti-virus, and any messenger/IM programs. Max out your virtual RAM. Do a Google search for optimizing audio/minimizing latency in XP. If you're not using ASIO drivers switch over for fastest sample playback. There is always going to be some latency with XP and the specs you listed.

Also, if the drum kit has a quantize feature try turning it off.

Another solution may be to play at a slower tempo while recording MIDI and speed up the tunes once you have layed down and edited the drum tracks.

Also consider adjusting the crosstalk between pads on your DTXplorer. Values from 1 through 9
if I'm not mistaken. If these are a little off, the next hit will not always be registered quickly enough.
Actually, I think it's more of a crosstalk on a pad in itself. Sensitivity settings and so forth. Check the manual.
