recording latin/bossanova guitar wich mic?

hey guys,

im on a vocal/acoustic guitar project....latin american/bossa nova style

i did a recording today at home

vocal>>> brauner phanto
guitar <<< R92 and MK012

any way, took the guitar too close on mics. my bad, vocals are done well,

my question, are there favorite mics to record with in that genre?
i know in that genre the guitar is detailed,

and im a bit stuck here.

my second tought would be vox brauner/ guitar R84 (i have it)
and thats it.

i always tend to put the mic close on the guitar, but then im screwed, pickings become very poooink. havent got the TRP preamp yet.

you got a better idea ?? pls tell me, im a bit stuck and out of cleu

I am unclear on whether we are talking steel or nylon strings. I close-mic steel strings, but for nylon strings, I've always had better luck with a pair of small diaphragm cardioid condensers, backed off about 1.0-1.5 meters, in coincedent (X-Y) configuration. I've used the Oktavas, but found them to have more color than I want for that application. Given the mics that you are already using, I'd say you are pretty serious. First, you will need a very good preamp with 2 channels. I'll presume you have that. For a matched pair of small diaphragm condensers, I'll work my way down in price from the top:

Painfully expensive (and wonderful):

Schoeps CMC6 with MK4 (cardioid capsule)*
DPA 4011

Still expensive but a little less painful:

Neumann KM84 (discontinued)
Neumann KM184 (some people don't like this mic, but it works on classical guitar)
Earthworks Sr20 or SR30
Microtech Gefell M300*
Sennheiser MKH 40

Reasonable, as they go:

Josephson C-42*

Cheap (from the perspective of anyone who owns a Brauner):
