Hi,
I have been recording for about 2 years now and I love it.
Its when I press the record buttin everything goes haywire.
I used Cakewalk Sonar 4, Cubase Sx3, Acoustica Mixcraft 2.0,
Cool Edit Pro 2.0, Sony Vegas 5.0, and others. Everytime i record vocals
its fine for about 10 seconds then as the beat goes on the vocals are like delayed or goes to fast for like of a better term, on all these programs.
Now I'm suspecting it's my computer. I also defragged my computer, formatted it several times, and stopped all the neccessary programs as i could in the background

Hp pavilion
1.8 ghz celeron processor
256mb ram
soundblaster live 24bit soundcard

Also i think its the IDE cable thats hooked up to my computer.
Its a slave hooking up the cd drive then hard drive then motherboard.
( a friend broke the other one) i need another one so can someone help me out.

I don't know if I'm following you completely...But could this perhaps be input echo? Are you listening to your vocals through your soundcard at the same time you're recording them, but they are delayed in playback?

On a side note...do you really use all of those programs?
hmmmmmmmmmm.......... :D

A Possibility?

well i use the same soundcard to record and playback.
what is input echo?
i have all these programs to record and all of them are the same.
it could be a delay somewhere, buffer settings or something. its so irritating.
when i record its not "riding" with the song. i'm a rapper i can ride a beat smooth, but the computer cant capture it properly.
yes i am listening to my vocals as i record and delayed in playback.

Would pirated software do something like that? I've heard of many people trying to pirate stuff and it would screw up constantly.

Lol

Sorry i muted the track it didnt help (thanks though)

Are playing to a midi click track? If so, trying converting the midi track to an audio track first, then mute the midi track and play to the audio track.

Yeah, cracked/pirated software often behaves improperly. Sorta like software pirates!

thanks but not the problem

A good suggestion folks, but i get my software from the companies directly.
every program i use is the same, even freeware programs.

What do you mean same? They are all different............???????????

I think he means he gets the same problem with each program, making it seem more likely that it's a problem with the soundcard.

I just looked at the original post again. Soundblasters are crap for recording, good for playing games.

So you bought Cakewalk Sonar 4, Cubase Sx3, Acoustica Mixcraft 2.0,
Cool Edit Pro 2.0, Sony Vegas 5.0 to use with a soundblaster card?

Yeah, right.

haha

Such doubtfulness and "kind" hospitality.
i get all my software from a friend in the family. He has connections.
Thank you very much!

You'd be surprised how many pirates we get asking for help. If your copies are legit, just ignore the comments.

couple flags here. He claimed he got all his software from the factory direct, but then he got it from a family friend with connections(probably internet connection). And why spend a couple grand on software and not at least consider a soundcard. If you aren't a pirate and hardly anyone admits they are my apologies but its just curious you have those problems. I have cubase se on my pc with a crappy soundblaster and I never have a problem. hope you figure it out.
