I am using Pro tools LE 5.01. I am wondering how to turn a mono file into a stereo file. A friend of mine gave me some mono sound files on a minidisc.I would like to turn them into stereo. how do I do this?

hi there , well i know how to do this in logic , so maybe its kinda similar ... Logic has an audio window ..This contains all the audio files that are not only in the multitrack session , but any u have added to this list for quick insertion into the multitrack session. Under file theres an option to convert to stereo wave .. So u can select a mono wav and convert it quite easily into stereo ...Have a look at protools , im sure theres something similar to this... anyway , hope that helps...

MY GOD!! Another person who uses Logic, I was starting to think everyone here used cakewalk ;-)

I'm just curious... do you mean single channel mono to 2-channel mono rather than "mono-to-stereo"???

(You sure as hell can't get stereo out of a mono track and left/right mono is still mono!!!)

*shudder* I have visions of those old Elvis (amongst others) "mono, electronically reprocessed for stereo" records from years ago.....

Good question. Does LOGIC actually synthesize two channel stereo from a mono wave file?
