Hi all,
I'm new to the forum, and I'm having a bit of trouble recording into ACID. I recorded vocals into ACID using a Tascam US-122 USB interface. I basically made up a loop-based song and recorded vocal tracks over it. It sounded great while mixing right in ACID. However, when I saved it as an MP3, and played it in my MP3 player, the vocals tracks just came out from the right speaker. Would this be an error I made recording, or that Acid just won't support recording with the Tascam? It all seems strange to me, as it sounded OK in Acid. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Welcome to our family here at HR.COM, pablotf.....

Did you have your vocals "panned"?

Or did you record the vocals in stereo? If you only used one mic, it'll place them on which ever side the input you used is connected to. Acid won't record in mono. Why? I dunno, but I have a workaround:

What I do - I take the track on which I recorded the vocals, click on "Edit on Sound Forge", and do channel conversion, stereo to mono. Then, back in Acid, pan to wherever I want them on the soundstage - usally center, unless it's a background part.

If you don't have an audio editor, I think you can pan 50% to the opposite side, and essentially be down the middle. That's just a theory, though...

Since when? It records in mono just fine. L and R meters show inthe record dialog box, but the track that gets recorded is indeed mon and panned to the center.

(This is ACID 4 Pro I'm using...)

The only choice it offers me (project properties tab, invoked from the record dialog) is between stereo and 5.1 surround. Acid 4 Pro.

Maybe it's a sound card driver thing? I'm using M-Audio Delta 66...

It records in mono just fine. Under recording device, find the mono channel. It's there for me with my Mia.

dafduc, I'm also using a Delta 66, so that can't be it...

But I don't see any tabs in the Record dialog box. Do you mean the Audio tab in the Project Properties dialog box, invoked by clicking the Change button in the Recording dialog box? There's a list there labeled Master Bus Mode that has Stereo and 5.1 Surround as the choices. Are you sure that'a not what you are seeing?

Back up... in the Recording dialog itself, there's a pulldown labeled Recording device, right above the change button -- what are your choices in that list?

I am using the ASIO drivers, by the way (Options menu -> Preferences->Audio->Audio Device Type). What are you using?

Guess I never looked at that dropdown - lots of mono choices. Wow, I can be a real dipshit sometimes...

Ahhh, can't we all, my friend? Alas, my own dipshititude affects more important elements of my life than recording...
