I am curious about whether it is better to make a room as dead as possible or not.
I have been looking at youtube videos where people try to remove echo, but usually there is still the sound of the room, just a bit deader, and to me, it often sounds worse. Taking into account that one usually adds artificial reverb anyway, why have any room sound at all, especially if it's not a good room sound.
There are anechoic chamber clips with people playing instruments on youtube, and in a way, that makes more sense to me, just add artificial "good" reverb to the pure sound.
Thanks for any thoughts.
