Can someone help me every time when im recording from my synth I get really low volume recordings. My synth connected strait to my soundcard a audiophile 2496. When I play my synth the sound is loud. I have problem with just when I record. Do I need maybe a preamp to boost the signal? I have a roland Rs 9 please help me.

Thank You

You will need to get a DI box. If you want stereo, you may need to get two of them. I have used the Rolls DI box for synths and it works fine they can be had for around $30 each.

Sorry for being such a newbie but what is a di box?? Is the audio buddy from m audio a di box?

A DI box is a Direct Input box. What it does is provide a balanced input and even boosts the signal, depending on the box. I am not familiar with the Audio Buddy so I couldn't tell you if it works. For some real strong signals, you might try the Tech 21 bass driver DI.

I hope that this helps.
