Hey, i hope this is the right forum for this topic but im stuck. I recently got Cool Edit 2 Pro and have been mucking around for a few days but i just have one question-
When you record a track, say for rythem giutar and you want to play a solo over the rythem how do you do this? It seems as though you cannont play one track while recording another. This is annoying because its somtimes impossible to record lead guitar with out needing to hear the other tracks at the same time.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You are in multi-track view and not edit view correct? You just arm the track and hit record. Unless you have a dinosaur of a computer without a full duplex soundcard.

Creative soundcard???

Go into the Windows audio mixer Recording Properties and turn off "What You Hear"

hmm sorry im a bit confused. i am in multitrack view- i can see track 1 is the rythem guitar ive already recorded. What i would like to do is listen to this rythem guitar at the same time that i play lead guitar (for timing) whilst only recording the lead guitar for track 2.

thanks

Now arm track 2 and hit record and it will play track 1 and record on track 2.

What do mean by 'arm track 2'?
I go to the 'edit view' and i see 2 tracks, the rythem one and the new one i want to record. I Drag the new one into the Wave window and hit record. I can record allright but i dont hear track one playing to guide me.

sorry, im a dumbass.

EDIT:
ahh ok i get what you were saying now.
Stupid program keeps freezing though
