Hey guys!! I was just wondering, how do you guys record your guitar sounds?
I am a newbie and i don't have a clue how to get some nice sounds. there are two types of guitar sounds that i want. One is just clean sound with little bit of crunch.
The other one is fuzzy distortion sound.
Also, i am thinking about getting line6 pod xt, which allows you to record directly via USB. Is this a good idea? or should just get a nice amp and hook it up to nice microphone.

For the newbie I suggest the POD and direct recording like myself. Mic'ing a cab can be frustrating. Direct recording is easier and sounding better all the time..

A good player, playing a good guitar, thru a good amp... recorded in a good-sounding room with a properly-placed mic appropriate for the sound, connected to a good mic pre....

Simple! ;)

 see what I mean..

I had this problem until I got myself a POD.

It changed my guitar world and I would reccomend one to anyone and everyone.

Sure the POD is great for beginners! I especially like the fuzzbox model for a fuzzy heavy tone.

Eventually you will want more but worry about that later. Besides when you do eventually get an amp you will have those POD tracks to try to beat, good way to push the bar up.
