I'm using an old 4 track that has some good mixing controls to get my POD into the computer. Everything I've read so far says that I really need a line level input to make it work with the AWE64 Sound card. However, when I record the guitar tracks, there's lots of hiss and background white noise when I record. Is there something I can do to eliminate this ? Any help is welcomed.

Recording With a POD

I've been spending the last month trying to figure out how to record without noise from my POD - here's what I know so far:
I have a Bass POD with the built in USB interface and it records with no noise... ever. I also have an older Guitar POD Pro that I run signals from the effects loop out into the Bass POD in to cheat buying an interface - but there is always a bit of hiss - I tried using a cheap interface that only had RCA ins and outs and it made the noise worse. The boys at Line 6 told me that I should buy a better interface and use the balanced (XLR) outs - I'm saving up for the Lexicon Omega to see if it will work. I don't think the older non-rack mount PODs have this. They also told me that there are "hiss eliminators" to use in line from older PODs that help with this problem - try calling customer support at Line 6 and they'll do what they can to solve the problem - hope this helps.

lead pipe. the awe 64 is a terrible sound card to record with. its also not proper FULL DUPLEX. its very old. get yourself a proper sound card.
it REALLY is truly dreadfull. and plays back in 8 bit if i remember
(which is why you are getting hiss ) while recording at 16 bit if i remember.
i cant recommend one yet unless you pst your computer confign.
