I have read multiple threads on several boards about this, and the answer seems straightforward, but I'm afraid it is not working for me. I have had no issue using the VST as an effect after recording dry. For example, I:
1. Create Audio Track
2. Record guitar as dry signal
3. Run VST from the Process->Audio FX menu
4. Sounds good!
Now, what I'd rather do is put the effect on in real-time while I'm playing. Or, at least be able to hear it that way. From what I've seen, the description of how to do this is to add the effect to the track, then make sure "Input Echo" is on, and I'm all set. Only problem is, when I try to do this, GR3 is grayed out and I'm unable to insert the effect until there is some audio in the track. And at that point, it only processes existing audio, it will not process or echo on the fly.
Anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? I'm sure I'm overlooking something very obvious. Thanks in advance!
