I did a search. But thought it would be easier to ask this way.

I want to record guitar and my zoom rt323 drum machine to my KORG D1200MK II mixer.

And I have a BOSS DS1 distortion, FLANGER, DELAY. SM57 MIC.

I have a PEAVEY studio amp. And it has a preamp in the back.

Now I can mic the amp which would give me a good sound.

But if I want to record DI. How would the sound be if I used my amp's preamp into the mixer? Or, do I need a POD or something like that?

You should be able to connect the pre-amp output of your Peavey to the mixer and then record the results. The pre-amp out is probably close to line level which is what the mixer wants.

I'd try this path and then compare it with the sound you get miking your amp using various microphone placements.

A Pod would work well if you are looking for more tonal variation than you already have.
