I heard somewhere that in the late 60's and early 70's musicians would face they're amplifiers toward a corner in the room and mic the triangle. Does anyone know anything about this? If so how does it sound? Thanks.

Never tried it. I was thinking about it, but I wonder if it wouldn't just be more trouble than it's worth?

How much trouble can micking a corner be?

Ah, I was just thinking about the reflections and how much of a difference in volume it would take to get it to sound decent. I was thinking about all the sound bouncing off the walls can coming back at the mic. And I was also wondering how treated the walls in the studios were back then, assuming they weren't a standard dry wall thing like in my bedroom. I think it would make some difference in trying to get it right..

But I haven't tried it, so I don't know. I will try it, though, so I don't come off sounding like a dumbshit if anyone asks about it.

Have you done it? I'd like to know how it's pulled off. :)

That will be too boomy...just put an SM57 off axis, and a LDC 5 feet away.

That's what I was figuring. Thanks for that! I may still try it, just to satisfy my curiosity.

I guess if you need like mondo bass, that might not be a bad way to do it.
