Recording Gigs

i know its ever so slightly off-topic but I was wondering what would be a good Mic to record a gig when u are in the crowd...

coudl a condensor lapel mic & hooked it up to a Mini-disc for a coldplay gig last nite and it didnt really pick it up....very very faint..not even possible to listen to properly @ full volume...

any hints? price range? wouldnt want to spend over $40/$50 if possible.

that can probably help you out with field recording.

I used to hang out there until I figured out that most of the members are just a bunch of bootleggers.

thanks for that Michael...i've posted a message so hopefully these guys will have some good advice....they r talking about how u can get the original woodstocl tapes on Ebay (current bid just under $2k)....
