I want to make a copy of a tape cassette on to a CD, but first copy it to my hard disk. I am trying to make a CD from a tape cassette using Adaptec EasyCD Creator 4.0. I have plugged in my tape deck from the Line-out on the tape deck to Input jack of a preamplifier (as described in the Adaptec manual), then plugged in the Output jack of the preamplifier to the Line-in jack of my SoundBlaster Live! Value card. When I follow the directions in the manual for recording from the tape to my hard disk, using the 123 Wizard, I can hear the tape through my sound card. When I try to play what I thought had been copied to my hard disk I get no sound.
I've also tried using the regular amplifier, connecting the tape deck to the amplifier and the amplifier to the computer sound card. Same thing.
I've tried making a copy of a CD (placed in my D: drive which is a DVD drive) and using my E: drive which is a CD-RW drive to copy to. When I do that I get a copy of the original CD that I can hear.
Anyone have any experience using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.0 to make a copy of a CD from a tape cassette?
I have a Dell Dimension XPS T500 with 500 MHZ Pentium III. 128 MB SDRAM, 22.6 G hard drive, Soundblaster Live! Value 512 v sound card, Windows 98 SE
