I am trying to record from my home stereo system using a cassette to my pc. I have purchased a cable to put into my headphone jack and the other end goes into my pc. I am able to record, however, the sound is very fuzzy. What am I doing wrong? I am using the standard Windows recording software found in the accessories. I am not sure I have my cable plugged into the right port in the back. I have it in my microphone hole. Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to make a Christmas gift by recording my Church's Christmas show and burn to a CD for our director. Thank you.

1. Use the 2 RCA left/right outputs on the back of your deck, not the headphone out - this will require a different cable - 2 RCA's to an 1/8" stereo male. If it doesn't have these I'd suggest borrowing a deck that does from someone.
2. Don't use the mic in. Use the line in.

The recording software in Windows probably won't work either. It's time limited (I think). Something like http://www.goldwave.com will give you a better result, and make the editing much easier.

All my posts aren't usually this negative! I'm sure you will sort it out.

by 'fuzzy' do you mean that it's distorting pretty badly?

if so, open the volume controls(the small speaker on the lower right hand side of the screen). it should open to playback. go to properties and switch to the recording function. you should see a few volume controls such as mic, line-in, stereomix, etc. select line in. i can't remember off the top of my head, but there should be additional controls for not only the volume, but the trim as well. i had to mess around with these settings until it started working right. a lot of times with 'consumer' audio cards, the trim has to be set really really low just to get it to peak at 0db.
hope this helps.
auerole.
