Recording From Multiple Devices

I'm wondering how I can set it up so that I can record from multiple devices at the same time (example: Line In and Microphone). I have no idea whatsoever on how to do this, I would really appreciate someones help. It's a brand new computer, and I'm pretty sure it can do this, but I don't know how.

You'll be miles ahead of that scheme if you mix your line outputs into 2 channels and feed those to the line in on the soundcard.
I think they call the device that you need a "mixer".
I don't own one, so here's what I do:
Record tracks two at a time fed into the line in of my soundcard and play these back through headphones while I record the next two. Rinse and Repeat. Then mix down to two with multitrack software.
 
Thanks for the reply. But I'm a bit confused. Could you please elaborate? (I'm not that great at this technical stuff)
