Recording from headphones jack.

I have a Chinese made bionic ear. It comes with headphones so you can listen to it. There is no usb or anything like that. Is there some kind of adapter that will let me record this device to pc? Is it possible to buy a male-male cable that goes from headphone jack on the gadget straight into the microphone jack on the pc? I want to record and digitally enhance this microphone.

I am trying to record a whisper like noise cumming from the hallway in my apartment.
Not sure if this is the proper forum for this but I am struggling to find the answers on the web. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I should use to record a whisper sound coming from the hallway. I think whomever is doing is kind of depending on the fact that this sound is so hard to record. There is all sorts of air hissing. Does anyone know of a good source of information about how to do this?
 
First off the voltage that is apt to come from a head phone output is likely way too much for a mic input.
If your sound card has a line level input- and you can reduce the volume of the head phone output enough, it might work.
More direct though would be to just use an inexpensive mic to begin with.
 
Looks like that 'bionic ear' (It's a parabolic microphone with a headphone amp in the handle) has a 1/8" stereo jack. This cable would let you plug into the stereo line-in jack on a computer.
 
The whisper appears to be a looped recording of some guy saying "shut up faggot" I want to record it for evidence purposes. I called the cops, but they didn't believe me saying it's in my head. I don't blame them for not believing me. If I can record it, maybe I can go to the local news channel. Guy records voices in his own head. I can hear it in the headphones on the little device, so I am assuming it is possible to record. The problem is I need a recording that I can really use as evidence. I know how unbelievable this story is. I had to piss off a few people to get where I am today. The shitty part is it is really annoying sitting here listening to this for hours. It really doesn't appear like the voice is really in my head it gets all warped when I turn on the ac, and there are many other sketchy things. I can record like 15 second segment on the device but it is sort of unclear and I don't want to be told to take my medication again. Really i think the voices in my head would at least say something else once in a while. Sometimes I have voices in my head but they always are a lot more chatty, never just two words. I am peaty sure this is just some asshole trying to drive me nuts. Once I get the recording I can show it to I don't know lawyers. There is more to this story, I've done a lot of things to get myself into the mess I am in today.
 
Keep in mind these devices are rather poor quality. For evidence purposes you want maximum wanted signal and minimum unwanted sound, like hisses and hums and handling noise. The usual way to get this is to put a microphone as close as you can to the sound source, using a low noise recording device. On hear we argue endlessly about tiny amounts of noise and spend vast amounts on preamps that can squeeze a little more performance. This gizmo is at the toy end of the scale and I doubt the recording it produces will be much good. Mainly because the physics of a small dish and good results don't work. I'd search locally for recording enthusiasts who might have better kit and could record it for you. Long shotgun mics, and low noise recorders can be rented from a video production hire company, but will be expensive and need some practice with. You could be better trying a small portable recorder with built in mics, like rasa cams or zooms, and hiding them closer to the sound source?
 
There are many fine members here who can easily manufacture you a high quality track of someone saying "Shutup faggot" repeatedly in a whispered voice if you're not worried about provenance...

If it's in the hallway, does it go away when you go into the hallway?

If you can hear it on your device, just plug the device into your computer and record it there...
 
If it's a looped recording, then it should continue if you open the door and go out into the hallway. A looped recording doesn't know or care whether you are in, out, or somewhere between. You should then be able to track it down, because it requires a speaker of some sort.

If it's a person, then maybe instead of going down the audio recording path you could mount a little security camera,
