Why is it when I record electric keyboards in stereo I always have to invert one of the channels. Is it just the shitty stereo simulation that korg and yamaha use.
Should I just record in mono.

Also when I record keys I use 2 whirlwind IMP 2 DI's.
Any suggestions on different DI's or should I go into my ART DPS II.

First... check to make sure your cable's aren't inverting the phase. It's a long shot, but if pins 2 and 3 are crossed on one end of the cable, that would invert the phase, necessitating you to do it after recording as well.

Second... why are you using DIs? Keyboards put out line level signal that shouldn't need to be DI'd.

Cables are OK. If I use line level I get the same thing.

I'm using DI's because I did not want to use a 30 ft HiZ cables.

Which keyboards are these? Balanced outputs or unbalanced? Have you tried recording them w/o effects? If it's simulated stereo, then most likely there is some phase trickery going on.

Couldnt you phase shift one of the tracks via wav editor?

it shouldn't be recording with phase problems in the first place

obviously it's a way to fix BUT it's a problem one shouldn't have

what kind of keyboard is it???

I record keyboards all the time, including Korg and Yamaha, and have never had that problem. Either something in your keyboard is miswired, or something in your studio.
