Im recording with electric drums and it sounds horrible
is it better to plug direct into an mbox
or do the drums through an amp/mic

any other tips?

it sounds like its constantly hitting a threshold, even though its not

Make sure you are plugging into a "line" input on your MBox, and not a "mic" or "inst"(rument) input.

I don't know which MBox you have, but if it doesn't have line inputs your're kinda SOL...

i was plugging the drums into an amp, and recording to a mic into the m box.
SOL? i'm not up on the lingo these days.
I have a mobile pre usb, it does have line input,
ill try that.
thanks!

Or consider recording the MIDI and putting the sounds in the computer.

You'll not only have the capability of unlimited sounds, but you can edit/tweak the performance.

my issue with the midi drums is that the built in drum racks in ableton sound horrid.
I have the vst plugin - addictive drums, but i cannot get the e-drums to sync up properly with addictive drums. I even tried recording all the drum sounds from Addictive drums separately and then created a custom drum rack set to the proper pads for my e-drums, but the drum hits mute out after the initial hit. I tried adding reverb, but that sounded worse then the ableton drums!
sigh.. .
why can't home recording be easy like eating chips, or hula hooping?

hey, i've just bought an alesis io2 and have been trying to record into ableton live 6 with my dt xplorer but am having issues. can I record what i'm playing connected by just a midi cable or do I also need to connect stereo/mono cables?

thanks
