Hello all..........

I am going to be attempting to record drums within the next month or so. and I was wondering if my ideas were correct. My band plays a Hardcore/punk/metal combination. Now I understand that there are certain things you give up by not using the highest quality mics, but we don't have highest quality money either. We have 2 sm58's, and 2 AT mic's. We have a few other mic's that i don't know the name of because they are crappy.

Anyhow... i plan on above mic'ing the cymbals and tuning them for stereo sound. Placing 2 mics between the 4 toms and tuning them to be left and right . mic'ing the snare with the sm 58, and using the 2 AT mic's on the kick drum, one pointed towards the batter, and one recieving the vibrations.

Did i miss something? Am I WAY off? We just need good clear sound.. it doesn't have to be perfect.

Any ideas, or help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm stuck @ work, thereby not knowing exactly which mic's they are. I will find out and get back to you. But my ideas for basic placement seem feasable? I just want to have a small go ahead nod from someone more knowledgeable. We have to use what we have... I think they are cardoid mic's like $80 bucks in the store... i'll check on the exact make and model
