Tyson if your thinking of purchasing a mixer to do your drum recording you'll be limited and possible disappointed you should instead be looking for a new interface. That Tascam US1641 that I mentioned will make a world of difference on your recording projects.

Yeah, I'd recommend that too. Great interface, and great bang for the buck.

Eight converters. I might get one of those myself. :D

S/PDIF is for connecting to high-end digital equipment. Nice to have, but you probably won't be needing it for awhile.

So i'm guessing it's good? I just want to confirm a few thing. The knobs on the front are Preamps? probably wrong. Well other than the headphone stuff. Then what are the 6 inputs and 6 out puts on the back for? Thanks :D

My audio card is an M-Audio. I like it.

Yes.

Those are additional audio inputs. The device can record 8 channels simultaneously, not just the 4 XLR inputs.

Why would you need to do that? Since when do you use 8 guitar? :laughings:
Explain please.

I don't need to do that. You need to mic your drums. That includes overheads, not just the individual drum mics.

I understand that. I'm just wondering why anyone would need 8 lines at a time. Thanks

I use 8 mic's on my drum kit alone!

1-snare
1-kick drum
1-10 tom
1-12 tom
1-14 tom
1-16 tom
2-overheads

and to be honest, i could also add a hi-hat mic above and below as well as another snare mic for below, and another kick drum mic.

Do you need all these? nope, you can get away with just two mics using the "Recorderman" technique.

but they aren't XLR. they are line inputs. Can you use those for mics, too? Thanks.
