recording drums to computer

i play a small kit 2 toms snare and kick and 2 crash and ride and hi-hat so should i go with 2 tom mics 1` kick mic and 2 over heads?
and another ques is what kind of mixer should i get?

and whats the best beginer sofeware

depends on the total # of mics you wanna use :

1 - single overhead

2 - single overhead,kick

3- stereo overhead,kick

4- stereo overhead,kick,snare

after that, you can start mic'ing toms
