As for the quality debate, that might've been true 10 years ago, but Behringer has purchased a number of reputable audio companies; including Midas, Tannoy, TC Electronics, Bugera, etc. and their products have benefited from it.

This is news to me and good to hear.

There's wordclock sync in the ADAT stream as well as on the BNC wordclock connection. I can't tell from your description if you're really syncing from the BNC or through the ADAT.

I just received reply from Steinberg support. Since I do have BNC connected I needed to change the settings of the slave UR824 unit to wordclock-not ADAT. All good now. The light is no longer flashing! :)

I do wonder if I had drift/sync issues when recording bands before.... I'll just pretend that isn't wasn't possible... :)

I concur with not needing an outboard desk. Just a converter with 8 inputs will do the trick. I use the Presonus 1818vsl but be aware that the first two channels are set to inst. level so don't try to run line inputs there. The vsl gives you a great mixer too. This unit imports at 32 bit and does a stellar job.
