Recording Double Problem. HELP PLEASE

This is acutally a question for a friend. He installed Cool Edit 2.0 full version. Inserts the beat he is going to be recording to and when he hits record on the next track is records the beat to it. Even if the microphone isnt on it still record the beat to the next track. Can anyone help?
 
Try reading the very first sticky on this section: "when track one records to track two." After you have read it, and digested it, ask your question again.
