Hey guys I'm recording some classical guitar pieces that I have been working on and as some of you might know, classical guitars can have very strong bass presence, I'm trying to get a more balanced recording, because right now it's lots of bass and not enough highs.
Im only using an AT2035 (I don't have a second small diaphram condenser) any tips or ideas for capturing a more balanced sound?
Yes I know I can EQ in post, but i'm trying to make it less work by getting the best sound off the original recording.

Try moving the mic away from the sound hole. Aim the mic at the neck or bridge. Also try mic from farther away for a more natural sound. It's a matter of trial and error till you achieve the sound you're looking for.

Yep the proximity effect can ruin a good guitar sound.
Maybe try an omni pattern mic. More distance, always away from the soundhole and experiment with the positioning.
Time spent here will pay off, ohh and position in the room makes a big differance too .
Have you got any gobos (gobetweens) or room treatment.
Its very reasonably priced if you make your own. See the diy threads here.
