Recording brutal growling vocals

When I recorded my demo, I put a little bit of gain, but just a little bit less than a slight overdrive, to make a difference. I think it can be a good time to you test it and see if it fits your style.
Nothing like industrial or Nine Inch Nails, but for me, some extra gain helps in case of brutal vocals and not-so-brutal parts...
Just my 2 cents. If you want to check out my demo, its not the best sound in the world, and its my first recording alone attempt.
You can get some mp3s at: http://planeta.terra.com.br/informatica/gleicon/crushed/

Best regards, good luck !

analytical man,

if that free ep offer goes for me, i'd love a copy, too-i introduce a lot of people around here to heavy music, and might even be able to point you in the right direction for booking if you ever come my way (nc)

i'm going to have to start experimenting with learning to growl better/recording it soon, too-i'm hpoing to start recording some pretty aggressive stuff, converge/godflesh/lamb of god/dillinger escape plan/curl up and die/old sepultura/nailbomb/etc/etc/etc-influenced music, and while i can come up with nifty riffs, and likely plenty of drumbeats, the vocals will be a task. anyone have advice on building up growling chops? i can sing my fool head off, but growling can be tough for me. i can do mutltiple styles, but not typically without wrecking my throat rather quickly (unless i'm doing inhaling-style vocals, in which case i'm in good shape, but i want to do everything).

esactsun, grindcore like whom? agoraphobic nosebleed? godflesh? grindcore has been related to a lot of bands..
