Our Bass player has a hartke that we were thinking of using as a preamp so we could get the tube sound from it. The problem is that it has no line out, just speaker outputs. Is there an easy way we could use the speaker outputs direct into our mixing board so that we can take advantage of it as a tube preamp?

Youre going to have to use a directbox that can receive a powered signal and from there to the mixer.

This is not a regular direct box....... It should have the option of instrument or Amp as the signal source !
you have to make sure that the input can receive a powered output or else.....mayday...mayday..... were going down !!!
NOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooo

DO NOT DO THAT

Your speaker outs have to carry a certain load for your speakers and if you plug that in you may toast the board. Bad idea. Just get a sansamp DI.

Check out a device called a "Red Box". It is designed to be plugged into the speaker output to be used as a direct box. One word of warning though, you need to have a propper load on the amp, which usually means having the speaker connected to the red-box output, or imploying some sort of load that is designed for the job. If you do not load the speaker output, you will blow the amp!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Red Box by Hüghes & Kettner is a KILLER!! I'll most certainly buy a couple..
