hey,

i'm trying to record my guitar to my computer.... should i be using mic-in or line-in? i hear different things from different people.. can someone clarify this?

i plug my guitar into an effects processor pedal then to my computer

i've been using mic-in and it sounds a bit muffled and not so great . i have an audigy 2zs sound card and boss me-50 pedal.

thanks

The line in may be your best bet, but even it won't be ideal if it's not designed as a high impedance input to plug a guitar into directly. You may need a direct box as well to get the best results.

what's a DI box exactly?

i have a boss me-50 processing pedal..... is this a direct box?

if i plug my guitar into this, and then into the line-in .... would this work?

Try it and see. A direct box essentially modifies the impedance from your guitar to match that expected by a typical balanced line input signal (+4dBu). If you have the manual for your pedal, check to see if it has a feature like that. If it is typically meant to connect directly to your guitar amplifier then I doubt it.
