Could someone tell me if it is possible to use the Line Out of my Portastudio to record to CD, or computer then CD, with a 414? I have just learned how to mixdown to a cassette, but would like to have ability to record digitally.

Do I need to purchase some hardware to do this?

All you need is a computer with a sound card with a line in, some recording software, a CD burner, and some CD burning software.

If your sound card has a 1/8" stereo line in you will need an adapter to go from the two RCA type outs on the Tascam to the stereo line in. There are free recording and CD burning programs available on the web.

Recording Software

Do you have a recommendation for shareware recording software? I have Nero Express and the Windows CD burning software that comes with XP Pro.
