Hi there!

New to Cool Edit Pro! Just installed it, and can't get the recording going.

I'm on IBM T40p (laptop) with SoundMax Full-Duplex Integrated Soundcard, and I am recording through my Mic that I've got hooked up to my portable mixer table (so god input), and connected to the mic port of the laptop.

When I choose Options -> "Monitos Recording Level(s)", mic input pulsates in the green meter. Also, if I press record, and have chosen Option -> Show levels on play and record, I get readings on the meter.

But no waves are created! :(

I think I have set up the recording and play back devices right (being my sound card). And I can hear the pre-installed song without a problem. My rec and out settings seem ok (1) on the track ...

Is this like embarasingly simple?? Or am I actually having a problem here? (not being just my IQ :D)

Happy for any help, dying to get started with my Cool Edit Pro 2.1!!!!

Cheers!

in your multi-track view, look at the in and out buttons next to each track. click on your in button and make sure you have your mic input chosen as your input.

How can anyone be "new" to CEP when it's been discontinued for three years?

Second hand, I guess. In many cases you just don't need the latest release, thus with some luck, you can save a lot of money. I myself bought an unused and sealed Adobe Audition 1.0 for 65 Euro some time ago.

Thanks, I'll checks thoses input/output buttons!

How can one be new? Well, it's never to late to start recording your music right :). Been using Cubase and Logic, but need something simpler and les complex, but still versatile.
A good statement for Cool, right?
And it's been a few years since I recorded now, and I have access to Cool cheaper than than the new programs. Being an enthusiastic but pore student I need something that works but does not empty my wallet :).

Simple, even though old, is sometimes better than more "muscles" though newer.

Cheers!

Who's selling it these days?

If I were "new" and looking for budget-friendly programs that kick more a$$ than a gladiator, I'd probably just be using Reaper.

Exactly. So what's the point in being suspicious of people who show up asking questions about a program that was abandoned by the people who stopped supporting it four years ago?
