are you guys still pissed off about that"revolutionary war thing "?
I've always felt that Freddy and Dreamers kinda made things all even again.

and now for breaking World Cup News...
Final:
England 1
Agentina 0

Congrats, Paul. (Now we need the Nets to win tonight.)

Lastly (so this thread doesn't get killed) the time has come for me to start to learn about loops. First question goes to acidrock. I downloaded a couple of loops from the site you suggested and unless I'm missing something they seem to be tempo specific.

IOW, if I have a song at 90 bpm, I need to find a loop that is also at 90 bpm? This would seem to be a royal PIA. Not only do I need to find a beat that fits the song, but it needs to be in the right BPM? I think I must have something wrong.

Mike, If you right click the clip click properties and make it a groove clip, it will snap to project tempo. Check the enable looping box I think. I've done this. Dropped a 120bpm clip into a 126bpm song. No problem.

Now, down to business. The Super Bowl rules because the Patriots won this year :D...really though, the Super Bowl is seldom a close or interesting game and this one went down to the wire.
An unbelieveably huge parade and celebration took place in Boston and I can guarantee that a parade for the Red Sox would dwarf that for the Pats.
The Lakers are really threatening the Celtics record of 16 championships, so I must root for the Nets (clearly the better team in the Celtics series).
We Cakewalkers really need to start some threads in the Dragon Cave to talk about music, sports, what old bastards many of us are, and of course Star Trek (nerd alert!)
Acidrock - Packers are my second favorite team - probably because of the fans.
Paul - make the damn goal bigger and Americans might be able to say they actually saw someone score!
Seriously, though, when my kid was born I stayed home for two months and the World Cup from France was going on. I must have watched 2-3 matches a day and really got into it.

Well we all know that you'll never see that parade. The curse of the Babe lives on. :)

Only kidding, Chuck. Thanks for the tip. I'll try it out. It didn't make any sense to me that you would need a separate clip for each bpm.

Oh Bollocks, you can tell its Friday again, this whole forum goes to rat****. And just whose fault is that? Yes, you are right........mine:( I'm very sorry. Oh, well, I'll just try to stay focused a little longer.

Acidrock, to tell you the truth, I'm still a little p****d at the Boston Tea Party. Coming onto our ships like that. Bloody hooligans!:)

Mike, Freddie and the Dreamers were a class act. Can't think what you mean by those disparaging remarks;) Anyway, you got even again when you gave us Britney Spears:D

And you'll forgive me for having a drink cos of the England vs Argentina scoreline. My wife just tried to make a Hotel reservation for sometime next week and the receptionist asked her to call back cos she couldnt hear my wife due to the noise coming from the bar with all the England supporters getting plastered! Hardly anyone in England is working this afternoon, they are all in bars. No difference there then?

By the way, it amazes me how folk on this forum are so well versed and practised at parts of Sonar and yet there are elements that don't get touched. For example, I have done my first session drummer recording yesterday and yet have been using loops for over a year. Talk about running before I can walk. Anyway, Mike, I'm sure you will be amazed at what loops can do for your music, they are amazing, but not always as convenient /quick as SD.

Chuck, Americans just have to get used to having an exciting time watching 0-0 draws. I watched a couple of the France World Cup games from America with some yankee "non-believers" and when they began to get into the game, egged on by the couple of Brits who were watching with them, they began to enjoy it more. If only I could understand US football in the same way:o

But I once went to a Houston Astros baseball game and it was like watching coastal erosion:eek: Having said that, I went to see the Oriols play in 2000 and saw Cal Ripken score his 1001 home run, probably one of the most spectacular sporting achievements I have ever witnessed, came right at the death, in the 9th innings. Amazing.

All us sad old bastards should get together in the Cave at a certain time over the weekend, that would make it more interesting.

Come on the NETS:D

The one aspect nobody has touched on is the drum/brush thingy.
I messed around with it for a bit but have'nt gotten back to it.Sometimes having too many choices can be a distraction, just a new diversion from the real mission(to actually record something).
As most of we forumites wear all the hats involved with making a finished recording there has to be certain areas of the project that have to get"farmed out ".
Being the rhythmically impaired musician that I am drums naturally fit the bill.
I still like my midi but working with loops not only gives a better sound(in most cases)ther's a visual aspect that makes it a tad more intuitive.
I can live with myself using drum loops, but shoot me like a mad dog if I ever start using guitar/bass/synth/vocal loops.
Or call me a DJ!

The main purpose is to record. Now after reading this forum again the last few days. I finally get to set down and fiqure out these drums in SD. So far from what I'm seeing, I've really been M.T.B.
I'm running SD though my Roland JV1010 after I run the .cal thing. That is so cool, Thanks again for all the help. Seem like it's just C & P after that.

P.S. Who's watching the Tyson-Lewis fight?

Acidman - you gotta make do with what you got. For ex., I'm a guitar player, so I can sort of make my way around a bass - but I don't own a bass guitar. As a result I write midi bass lines and run them through a DXi (like Dreamstation). The results are not half bad. Not quite a real bass player, but then it stays in time and doesn't drink all your beer.

The end result is I get a bass in my song that I wouldn't know how to get otherwise.

dachay, That's good. That was actually one of my next questions. I to am a guitar player. I've been thinking about buying a cheap bass to try to do bass parts. I think your on the right track though. I drink enough beer by myself, When there's a party going on, I drink alot more.

Although I'm a better bass player than guitar player with my hands, I still have a guitar head (i.e. I think like a guitar player). I still don't come up with lines that a bass player would on my own despite having gigged extensively on bass.
But I guess what I'm saying is if you're a guitar player, you can probably play passable bass. Ibanez makes a pretty good $200 bass IMO. Of course it's trash compared to a P-Bass (I made the mistake of playing them during the same session once), but you can record with it. I've been running mine into my J-Station, then my mixer into Sonar. I've also skipped the J-Station with decent results. Obviously, the other forums have reams of info on this...

In keeping with the sporting spirit of this thread, I'm going out for a walk because the Red Sox are getting crushed. %&*@#$ interleague play!

I may have let my personal preferences bubble through while trying to make another point.I guess what I meant was you have to pick and choose what tasks you want to do and how to go about doing them.
For me I got into recording so I could get my hands on lots of different instruments.I have no musical vision I just enjoy making noise.

acid, you left of the sports theme........ oh well, I say, play till your hands bleed. Haven't tuned the tv all night and won't. Don't know what's on and don't care. Music is the name of this game. Want to play tonight?

P.S. sorry Chucku, your right, I've been lookin' at that bass, + a couple others. I want one, I need one and if ever I, oh well got lost somewhere.....

I have a fender made in Mexico jazz bass and it gets the job done. The pots are kinda lame, its noisy but beggars can't be choosers.
As far as baseball,we don't have a major leaugue team in Milwaukee we have the Brewers.
The commissioner of baseball lives here(Bud Selig)who also owns the Brewers. When reporters wanted to ask Bud why his team was doing so poorly he was unavailable for comment as he was busy washing George Steinbrenners car.
The NBA is looking more and more like WWF these days, theres more freedom of interpetation in fouls than in the mp3 forum.
LATER!

Neccessity being the mother of invention, its amazing how different muso's improvise what they don't have. I have bass guitars, electric guitars, steel string and nylon string acoustics so none of these are a problem. (apart from my crap playing:))

Drums are always my bugbear so loops, midi and thanks to this forum and recent threads, Session Drummer is what I use. One thread in another forfum some time ago extolled the virtues of recording up turned pots and pans, using rice granules in empty tin cans etc in fact anything to get percussion sounds. The guy posting was flamed to hell and back but in the mp3 forum, Erland, a fine muso singer/songwriter that everyone is raving about, he admitted that he used gravy granules in an empty tin to make a shaker - and it works really well.

I won't be watching the Lewis Tyson fight, I am against pay per view as a matter of principle (I pay enough per month without having to pay for "specials") but will be waiting for the result with great interest.

BTW, I see the NETS lost again last night. Bad luck Mike.

:( There seems to be less springing of eternal hope this morning. They are being downright embarassed.

Guys,
I'm going to ease this thread over to the Dragon Cave.

I shall call the thread "DAW Users with ADD" (Attention Defecit Disorder)

Come on over.

Chucku, who are you to say we have A.D.D. OOOOHHHHH what was we talkin' about? Sorry I have to go back and see what we were talkin' about. Oh yea now I see, I don't watch P.P.V. either.
