alright i have a tape player, 2 pairs of headphones which i cut the wires off them and spliced them togethor, and a sblive value. I tried playing the tape on the player and then plugging the cord into the headphone jack on the stereo and plugging the other end in the microphone jack on the sound card but it didn't work.

The reason that i am trying to do this is becuase my uncle raps and records on tape and he would like me to burn it on a cd but i need to get it into a wav and on my computer.

How do I do this?

Please help

Does the cassette player have a line out? Try getting a cable (Walmart, Radio Shack) to go from that to the line in on the SBLive. You should be able to look at the connectors and got get a cable that matches.

What were you using to record on the PC? Check the mixing panel software that comes with the SBLive and make sure you have the correct inputs enabled if you haven't already. It can be kinda tricky if you don't look closely at the Creative mixer stuff.

jons right here , just get sa cable to go from your tapeplayer to the line in on your soundcard (not familiar with SB). I recently stole the intro to jurasic park for a job i was doing. This is the same principle , but my player was a video player .. I just went from the stereo out (what normaly goes to the aux in on your stereo) to two channels on my breakout box.. Its just a matter of getting the right cables , pretty simple really. Also like jon said , check the mixer in your pc , enable what you need ..

you have to use audio in jack (which usually resides at back), and not the microphone and further more check the recording properties and make sure line in is selected. See the below image.

He's probably sorted it by now.... How do you guys find these old threads?? :)
