Recommended DIs

I currently use a Lexicon Omega with the bundled Cubase LE software. It does a great job as long as my band and I don't mind doing a lot of overdubbing because it can only record 4 individual tracks at once.

So my question is this: what DI devices should I consider that will allow me to record more than four individual tracks at once? Does Cubase LE automatically limit me to only recording four at once no matter what DI device I use? I use a MacBook Pro.

I've reviewed many Di devices but I can only really tell how many inputs they take; I can never really tell how many of those inputs can be sent to the computer at once.

When you write di do you mean digital interface or direct input? DI gnrly means direct input.
your interface currently can only do 4 tracks at once and it will always be that way until you upgrade to an interface that has more. And cubase can take as many tracks at once that are open and available, in your case four. with a 8 channel intrface 8 at once etc. You can even get interfaces up to 24 at once.

And yes, I am interested in getting a new interface device that will allow me to to send more than four (ideally eight) individual tracks to the computer at once. It seems that with some devices, even though they can accept more than two or four inputs, they can only send two or four to the computer at once, meaning you have to assign multiple input tracks to a single output channel if that makes sense. So, yes I'm looking to be able to send a true eight different channels of input to eight separate tracks on the recording software at one time.

I think you mean "audio interface" not "DI".
You might wanna check out the presonus firestudio project
Has 8 inputs and is a pretty popular interface.
