I want my next DAW computer to be a laptop. I like being able to use PCI interfaces but I guess I can go for FireWire.
I'd like to be able to hook up my existing monitor and mouse to it.
Doesn't need to be 'state of the art' or anything as I get by okay with my very old PC (AMD 1.2GHz). Right now I'm just recording 2 tracks at a time but I wanna move up to 4. Don't think I'll ever need anymore than that.
Not sure about the processor since those have changed so much in the past 6 years. 1GB RAM is plenty. 80GB hard drive is good (I can always get an external). And of course it needs a firewire card in it. And a LAN/network card for cable internet.
I don't know shit about laptops...where to get them, where to take them if I have problems, etc. I'm open to any suggestions. It will be awhile before I can afford it but I'd like to have something to start saving up for.
