i need monitors and i just saw today those for about 330 dlls a pair, i think the lsr´s may be better but i cant find them here, and ordering them will add a huge tax...
i also so the jbl´s S26 (about 300 dlls the pair,

they are supposed to be made the same way their studio monitors but are in the top of their consumer products, kind of using a studio monitor to watch movies, and its specs where similar to the ones of the lsr 25, the eos thing and the freq etc,, do you guys think they´ll do the mixing job fine????
has anyone used them...

both control 5 and S26 are shielded and passive...

Yeah, I've never heard these, but the specs don't look bad, and the price is more than excellent for 70w biamped speakers!

I am currently waiting for new stock on the Yorkville YSM1P's, from Wheatons Music at $418 a pair. They and Musician's buy at $449 are both sold out, which in itself may be a ringing endorsement. Also I believe one or the other has the non powered YSM1's for $195 a pair. Brian Knave contributing editor at Electronic Musician likes the 1's and I spoke to him recently and he hadn't tried the 1p's yet but he has written about the 1's favorably on two other occassions, including a full review back in '96.. Mix magazine also has a positive evaluation of the 1p's in a recent review.

I listened to many monitors in the price range and found for example on the Behringer Truths, they had a large sweet spot but I really had trouble picking out words in a Dave Matthews CD that were much easier understood on the Yorkvilles and the JBL's. To me they seemed hyped. I could hear real separation and clarity on the Yorkvilles which is what I'm after and apparently they translate well onto other systems according to users whose evaluations I've read.
Also I really like the switches on the back of the Yorkvilles to dial in a particular room, to get the flattest sound.

Something interesting for you Tannoy Reveals endorsers. A guy a Musicians Buy.com told me the head designer at Tannoy actually designed the Yorkvilles, which I wasn't aware of but for about $250 less than the Tannoys I'll go with the Yorkvilles. Also I've personally avoided monitors that have less than a 6" bass speaker because I don't want to end up having to buy a sub woofer later. For more information check out Yorkville.com

I'm curious about these JBL S26 monitors... there wasn't much of an answer on them earlier, perhaps now someone has one?

I listened to the Event PS-6 Today and the M Audio Studiophile SP-5B . I like them both for the price. Anyone know of a good online vendor for the M audio stuff? Can't seem to find any. Also the Event.

Pratt,

Holy moly, I posted that thread so long agao that I forgot that I had posted to it. Thanks for the info though. I paid 279.00 plus tax for mine when I bought them from GC about 8 months ago. That should help someone out though.
