Robn,

I appreciate that, but lets wait until you get the mic back and test it out again. LIke I said it tested fine here, but we did not let it run for a long period of time. You mentioned the C1 you had got hot. We did not notice that, but then again this is Southern California, so maybe the mic acted up after being on for a long period of time. Since I replaced the entire internal workings of the mic(you have the same case and headstock for health reasons), lets see how it pans out.

Alan,

The C1 was fairly hot when I first got it out...it didn't get hot after usage... sorry if I implied that. I'll keep you posted.

Gordone,

I hadn't heard that about the phantom power thing...I'll have to check into it...thanks though...anyone else have any thoughts on that?

Yep, That's the recommended method, to protect the mic from any possible damage. I'm no pro, but there was a thread on the subject in rec.audio.pro

Gordone,

You are correct. Anytime you plug a mic in, the levels should be turned all the way down, then turn the phantom on, wait about 30 to 45 seconds, then bring up your levels. When shutting down, or changing mics, lower the levels, turn off the phantom power, wait about 1 to 2 minutes to let the caps discharge, then disconnect.

This method should be done all the time, so if any of you out there are not doing this when plugging your mics in (any brand), please take this advice and follow it...it may save your mic!

Kudos to Gordone... :D

Queue,

Wow, this is an old thread. I never heard back from him, so I assume he is totally happy. I did not find anything wrong with the mic he sent me, but I replaced it anyway and sent it back to him the very same day. Talk about a quick service turnaround! :D

So, I have no clue what happened. He never resurfaced.

Allan,
Yes it is an old thread, I dragged it up when I was pointing out your "service record" on another post. I'm suprised we never heard "the rest of the story..." on this one.
