Oh and my pod 2 was $60 used and TH-1 was $199, no where near $450 for sure

in fact Guitar Rig came in NI Komplete 5 for $299!

you've really got to be a bit more Scottish with your spending AB :)

Its not how big your toy is its how you use it....

All personal experience and personal flavors were discussing.

Ideally.....If i had it my own way id have a Soldano HotRod and one or two decent mic's.

Thats it.

software and amp sims be damned.

but as it is...

Not happening.

Truthfully though It works for you. but you also have taste (?)

i don't.

I am a punk rock snob. My shitty guitar sounds need to be on point just how i want em.

Amplitube wasn't accomodating to my tastes. And was hard on my set-up.

the only point that i was trying to make.

like you said its personal taste.....thats what demos are for or going to your local guitar shop and trying things out first..

or being a complete craigslist vulture like me :)

I do want a shot of those digdesign eleven racks though...them looks the business :D

tone is what your ear likes.

Which is why i usually refrain from such conversations.

A suggestion...

If i were you with not so much experience as a guitar player (or so you elude to) i would go in to some music shops and demo some of thier more upscalel amps and guits (they don't need to know your not buying) and actually experience some good tones first hand. .. . .

not modeled by software and computers.

They are quite different.

this practice will kind of get your ears seasoned. Maybe. It's a thought i have passed on in the past. They seemed to enjoy it. Plus it's like a trip to the candy shop.

I used a Soldano HotRod 50 (through an Orange 4x12 cab) at a show about 6 years ago. the touring band was nice enough to let me use it for my set after i inquired about it. Quite generous of him considering...

Fucking thing's tone made me melt. It was the best sound i had ever heard in my life. I've been in love since then.

When i shell out for a new amp/cab it will be one of those.

Part of our trip to seattle is part and partial to going to the Soldano Shop so i can mentally torture myself.

I might get a shirt.

But i hav been told now is not the time for said amp.

i would AB...problem is

a: guitars play such a small part in the music I want to record that I have it covered, and

b: Id end up buying one of the amps

I dont work not because Im rich...but because I try my hardest to be bloody careful :)
