Behind The Glass by Howard Massey is great. It has tons of interviews with stars of the production and engineering world, and with pretty much the same set of questions for each person. And a lot of them are relating to the phenomenon of the home studio. They give lots of tips! Very intelligent and comprehensive book!
There is also a book called Inside Tracks by Richard Buskin which is along the same lines (interviews), but it is not as fun because it is written (and edited) for someone who is may not necessarily interested in the specifics of engineering and production (i.e. mics, compressor ratios ect. are left out, or not there). It's still good to have around though.
