recoding with midi (beginner) need help

hey, i downloaded the solar 2.0 XL program, since i just bought a usb audio interface.

i'm a beginner at this recording stuff and i am trying to figure out this software, how can i have a midi drum loop playing while i play along with it and have them both record? is that possible?

when i press play the drum loop plays, but if i press record on an audo track- the drums dont play back on the speakers and dont record.

i probably sound like a dumba$$, but can anyone help me?

You downloaded Solar, eh? Nice. Well, I bought a copy of Sonar and mine came with a manual. You might try the help menu...

Is that legal? Just curious because I know that so much can be downloaded these days..you know, shared files.

Sorry, we don't support pirated software here.... so we can't help and I know there are a few of us who stand by that.

As for a dumba$$, yes you are if you downloaded a illegal Sonar off a file sharing program BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL!!!!!!

While this probably isn't what he meant, shouldn't we make sure he's not refering to downloading a DEMO version of Sonar before we rip him a new a$$hole?
 
Have you guessed I don't like people who Pirate software then come on this board asking for help because they don't have the instruction manual?

It's a valid point but not likely the case. Even a dumba$$ knows how to read the Help Files (the demo-installation even tells you to do it ;)). Warez-users usually don't do that, just because they're dumba$$es... ;)

Well, if he's "dumb" enough to call it SOLAR, he may very well be "dumb" enough not to bother to read the help file - but yes, you're right, this probably is a ZeRaW copy and not a demo...

That's possible a typo. As we all know the N and L are very close on the keyboard. :D

I have a friend that automatically spells it "Sonor". Why he can't write it with an "a" I will never understand....

well i already payed $160 for the recording system, which was probably too much to fork out right now at the moment....
