I need everyone input please.I'm currently using a v-amp pro recording direct.I'm ready to upgrade.So im considerin the line6 spider 30 amp, or the podxt which ill still use to play thru my monitors. which route would you reccomend? keep in mind i will still use direct recording instead of micing.thanks

I would definitely go with XT. Those Line6 cheap amps aren't that great (they sound very "plastic". The DI will proably be similar to POD).

Basically XT has more everything, especially when you are planning to do only some DI recording. Better yet, save a bit and get Pod XT Pro..

Also check the Tech21 PSA-1, IMO alot better than any POD.

the reason i was considering an amp was i thought maybe an amp would give me a better feel vs playing thru my monitors, what do you think?

Get yourself a keyboard amp, and run your V-AMP through it. It really makes a world of difference sound wise. You can find keyboard amps at pawnshops all day long. The V-AMP really needs a full range speaker setup to get the full effect, but monitors just don't have enough balls. If you can find a kb amp with a 15" or something like that it will sound HEAVY.

Do you use a DAW? You might be well served by picking up Amp Farm or Amplitube.
