Hi i have few questions regarding recapping capacitors to 200b i nearly went to buy all the materiels in local store they had all or similar until i ended up in the internet jungle of quality etc for the boards components. So if someone have done this on this particular mixer i would be really pleased to hear more about which brands to go for with this mixer.Im no pro on the subject but i can sold and by the convenient layout with strips i have the time to great but......now i need the parts and where to get.ps my model is the one with 2 sweepable 4 band EQ. tnx a lot on behalf a worrying delightfull owner of my best purchase ever.

i've worked on a couple of 200's you're probably gonna have a hell of a time locating a power supply.... best thing to do is look for modules from a company called power one... order 3 modules... +18 -18 +48... difficulty is then how much current to buy.... how many channels ya got???? how deep do you want to get on the rest of it???? have you opened it yet??? any mods done already????

BTW if you check into the GS tech threads watch for a cat named jim williams.... he's one of the best techs in the country on this stuff...

Thanks, Demented, that's great info!

As for myself, I have to admit I'm not quite ready to tear into mine just yet, It's on my to do list for 2008.

With a little 8x4x2, (also has dual swept mid eqs on all channels) the stock power supply is the same as for their slightly bigger boards, so am I correct in thinking I might have a little more current to play with before needing a bigger one?

What realistic mods are possible with the 200b? Which mods make the biggest difference? Your reccomendations?

I will definitely scour GS for Jiim Williams' posts.

THanks!

the things most people do to these are ...

1. repalcing all the electroytic caps... they dry out over time... using larger values than oroginally used often fattens up the bottom some...

2. replacing op-amps... op-amps have improved quite a bit since they were built and going for some faster amps improves the high end (smooths out) unfortunately you also have to add some feedback caps and do some powere supply decoupling to eliminate some feed back issuses... also when you're doing say a 32 input board you may need to beef-up the power supply depending on current usage of the new op-amps...

the 200's are great old boards... especially with the 4 way swept EQ's which not all have...
