not sure if this is the right place, but couldnt find the reason section.

so far ive managed to play my piano through reason's different synth's. How do i get reason to record my piano playing? does reason have a wave editor if and when i get a track recorded?

Does Reason come with any kind of a user manual or tutorial? You've just spent $400+ for a software package; it would be worth your while to spend a few minutes studying the documentation.

Reason does not record audio, but it will record the MIDI information from your keyboard.

If you've got Reason 2.5, go to the sequencer page. All the way to the left is a small midi jack icon. Place this in the track for the instrument/soft synth you want to record, then press the record button so it lights up, then press play.

yeah, thats how my piano plays through my computer, when i select the midi jack icon on the instrument track. ive tried pressing record before, but i never have found where it records to. it defintely doesnt record to any of the main track windows, so it must show up in some special window. Do i need to have a certain machine enabled? i usually just enable the mixer and the synth.

You did get a manual when you bought Reason, right? The answer is in there somewhere...

directly to the right of the midi jack icon, is the sequencer window.
the sequencer window is were you see all the recorded tracks.
get your desired machine (nnxt,nn19 etc...) load a patch,
by clicking on the folder icon on the machine. when you find one you like,
open it. (double click it). press the record button, it will light up/appear to be pushed in. then hit the play button. it wont start recording until you hit play.
hope this helps, if not, be more specific about how your going about recording.

.peace.

yeah, i prob didnt press play after i hit the record button. im still pretty new to all this stuff. thanks, ill see if it works.

Isnt it possible to record a guitar or vocal with reason?? Just synth thru the Midi?? Just got myself a demoversion but I havent managed to get a sound out of my computer yet..

Nope, it's not possible to record a guitar or vocal in Reason. Reason is designed to be looping and sequencing program that emulates some of the more popular loopers, samplers, drum machines and effects that are available.

theres a less than perfect way around that though.
if i want my voice in a beat, i'll record whatever i want to say into Soundforge.
save it as a .wav file, then you can load it as a patch onto the nnxt. if you recorded yourself playing the guitar into a program like soundforge, it woud work the same,
except theres a time limit. im not sure how long the "sample" can be, but i bet youd be safe with a minute or a little longer.

Ok. I actually got Soundforge aswell. I just got Reason (My first sequencer prog) a few days ago. So I haven't learned so much yet. But I get the idea. Thanx

when you load the "sample" onto the nnxt, do it through the bottom half,
(click the little triangle and drop down the bottom part of the machine).
then you have to find the correct key. it will be on a lot of keys, but find the one that has it on tune. youll figure it out.

.peace.
